Technical Writer
Evolv is seeking a technical writer to create, deploy, and maintain necessary user documentation relating to the installation, operation, and repair of its equipment and software. The technical writer will also be responsible for creating material on software operation, diagnostics capabilities, and system repair in the form of application notes and service bulletins. Documentation will be available in the form of printable material, as well as knowledge base entries, FAQs, and self-help guides. As an innovative thought leader, the applicant will contribute to the on-going evolution of Evolv’s product documentation design and implementation and make recommendations for process and tool improvements.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Experiences in a highly technical field, such as software development, computer science, or engineering
- Experience deploying material for printed and online consumption.
- Work collaboratively with service, support, engineering, and program teams to discuss, plan, and execute documentation-specific projects.
- Create engaging, easy-to-understand content such as user guides, knowledge base articles, how-tos, and step-by-step guides.
- Ability to understand and translate technical concepts into plain language with supplemental graphics and imagery.
- Develop and maintain documentation templates and collaborate with marketing to maintain company style guide.
- Adhere to the review/approval/release processes for new and updated documentation.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, business, technical writing, or a related discipline
- Proven ability to quickly learn and understand complex topics.
- Previous experience writing documentation and procedural materials for multiple audiences.
- Superior written and verbal communication skills, with a keen eye for detail
- Proven ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously, with an eye for prioritization.
- Experience developing software a plus.
- Familiarity of the systems/software development life cycle (SDLC) a plus
- Proficiency with document design tools, Illustrator and Adobe Creative Cloud experience preferred.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate and collaborate effectively.
- Proven experience authoring, proofreading, and editing end-user content.
