Technical Writer
Vestmark, Inc., a privately-held SaaS provider delivering financial technology solutions to the wealth management industry, is seeking a highly qualified Technical Writer. The staff writer is a dual role. Working with the VP of Training and Technical Publication, the desired candidate will research, write, and produce a range of end-user documentation including online help and user guides for our product. This person will also play a key role in creating Vestmark E-learning product modules. The breakout of the role is highlighted below.
Documentation Responsibilities:
- As part of a documentation team, create a full suite of end-user documentation deliverables, including User Guide, Online Help, Release Overviews, and Release Notes
- Create internal documentation for engineering teams, as well as an internal corporate newsletter
- Update Client Training materials as needed
- Work with tech pubs to maintain tech pubs wiki page
- Assist with ad hoc documentation projects as needed
E-Learning Responsibilities:
- Work closely with Product Design, Engineering, QA, and Customer Support teams to learn about the Vestmark product and apply that knowledge to create interactive E-learning modules
- Script, storyboard, and build the modules from scratch to completions
- Update existing modules to agree upon E-learning template
Required Experience and Skills:
- 8+ years experience tech writing for software products
- Experience with single-source documentation authoring tools, preferably Madcap Flare
- Experience scripting and building e-learning
- Experience with e-learning course creation tools, preferably Adobe Captivate
- Self-motivated, able to plan, prioritize and work with a complex schedule of events and activities
- Tenacious researcher, who can gather and interpret information from busy subject-matter experts
- Sharp analytical and problem-solving skills
- Self-motivated, able to plan, prioritize and work with a complex schedule of events and activities
- Excellent team player
Desired Experience and Skills:
- Familiarity with basic principles of investing
- Familiarity with software development and testing processes
- Familiarity with source control systems and issue-tracking systems such as Jira, Bitbucket, and Confluence
