Who We Are

Do you love writing just as much as you love stories? Finding them, telling them, sharing them. Do you often find yourself operating like a journalist while also imagining how to turn your words into various forms of marketing content that will get noticed by target audiences? If you don’t blink at a standard day that involves delivering 250 words of web copy, a draft of a blog post, and final edits for a section of an ebook  — provided you have the time to concentrate, balanced with the knowledge that the content is made better by your interactions, learnings, and serendipitous connections with teammates across the company — then we have a role for you.

At Mainstay, we believe one conversation can spark a brighter future. Our Engagement Platform makes it easy for colleges and businesses to start and measure conversations that drive action at scale. From our rigorous research methods to our Behavioral Intelligence framework - everything we do is designed to help people take the next step toward achieving their goals.

Our marketing team is driven by this mission. These curious, creative experimenters are focused on growing this company by growing themselves. We need your help to power that growth with incredible content.

What You’ll Do

Mainstay's Content Marketing Specialist is the engine that makes our marketing go. Reporting to the Director of Brand and Content, and working alongside marketing, product, sales, and services, you will create stories that showcase our technology, our higher ed partners (and their students), and our company. You’ll get the chance to do it all (while making a big impact): SEO focused blog content, long form pieces like guides and reports, case studies and success stories, webinar content, and more. As you may imagine strong writing skills are key and we will prioritize them above all else in filling this role.

You’ll operate like a journalist: Asking the five W’s, interviewing subject matter experts, finding the lead, delivering on deadline. You’re comfortable with using data to tell your story and to figure out which story to tell at the right time. You know the most compelling stories are about people, problems solved, results, and implications.

You’ll think like a content marketer: Exploring how one long-form piece of content can be extended into four or five more short-form, SEO-focused pieces. Then, you’ll bring ideas about how you might turn all of those into a video asset, and maybe even into webinar content. Finally, you’ll have a point of view on how you’d like to position all of those related pieces into a cohesive marketing campaign that will provide clear value to our clients and prospects?

What You’ve Done

  • 5+ years of experience in a Marketing Content focused role
  • Developed a portfolio of blog posts, ebooks, guides, white papers, etc. — which you’ll be proud to submit with your resume
  • Demonstrated SEO expertise
  • Used data analytics to drive your content generation and distribution decisions
  • Track record of bias toward action

Mainstay is committed to creating a company where all employees regardless of background can show up and feel they belong. This is an ongoing journey, and we welcome questions one here we’re at during your interview process. We are proud to be an equal opportunity employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, national origin, genetics, disability, age, veteran status, or fitness level.

***A link or PDF with work examples is required for this role. Applications submitted without one of these will not be considered.***
