Our Opportunity:

Chewy is looking for an Associate Editor to join our in-house PetMD editorial team and work with passionate pet lovers. The ideal candidate has excellent communication skills along with proven editorial skills and SEO experience. Your daily tasks will include managing relationships and workstreams for a range of veterinary writers and supporting editorial efforts and working across teams to advance PetMD and Chewy business and engagement goals. Your editorial duties will include vetting and onboarding new veterinarian writers, editing, fact-checking, performing SEO keyword research, and optimizing articles. You will also assist in fielding requests from other teams and providing them with article suggestions, information, reports, and stats.

PetMD is a pet parent’s go-to source for reliable, up-to-date information on all things related to pet health and care. Our articles are vet-written and vet-reviewed to ensure that pet parents have access to the unbiased answers and solutions they’re looking for. PetMD creates a meeting place where veterinarians can reach pet parents beyond the clinic with the helpful tips, advice, and knowledge they need to provide the best care for their pets.

What You’ll Do:

  • Manage the workflow necessary to enable our veterinary writers to produce excellent work: build and maintain excellent relationships, monitor and manage vet writer signups; onboard into system and solve setup issues with internal teams
  • Send assignments to vets, answer related questions, and follow up to ensure completion
  • Respond to internal requests for information/stats from other teams; respond to general email inquiries
  • Do first-round edits of articles and other pieces of content; fact-check claims in articles and query vets with any discrepancies; produce posts in Drupal
  • Perform keyword research and other SEO tasks
  • Manage production of internal editorial calendar and create reports on metrics and data
  • Manage PetMD homepage experience
  • Support workflows of other editors as needed

What You’ll Need:

  • BA in English, Journalism, Communications or a related field or commensurate experience
  • 2-3 years of editorial experience working for a consumer-facing media outlet
  • Advanced understanding of SEO
  • Proficiency in editing, working knowledge of AP style, and ability to follow in-house style guides
  • Highly developed intrapersonal skills
  • Ability to operate in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
  • An ability to flawlessly multi-task and thrive under pressure and deadlines
  • Ability to balance multiple priorities, and to quickly adjust strategy and execution in the face of new information
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
  • Experience working in a CMS
  • Highly developed intrapersonal skills
  • Ability to follow an in-house style guide
  • Love of pets and passion for their care and health
  • Position may require travel
