Our mission is to advance product innovation with metal 3D printing. Current metal 3D printers are out of reach for most engineers and designers. They are industrial, cost-prohibitive, and can be dangerous. We are making an affordable, office-friendly system so that every design and engineering team has the ability to 3D print with metal.

Desktop Metal is located 30min outside of Boston. We have put together a talented team of engineers, materials scientists, and startup veterans. Join us as we change the way products are designed and produced with metal.

We are seeking an Application Engineer to support our sales and support organization.

Responsibilities:

  • Support sales partner Application Engineers throughout opportunity evaluation and benchmarking while setting expectations for technical capabilities
  • Presenting technical content and product training for domestic and international partners
  • Work closely with customer support to ensure customer success by highlighting design for additive techniques specific to Desktop Metal technologies
  • Highlight Desktop Metals strengths and further develop applications by seeking case study opportunities and high value add solutions for customers
  • Pre-processing, printing, post-processing and delivering highest quality benchmarks and sales/marketing samples

Basic Qualifications:

  • Experience in 3D printing or advanced manufacturing
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes (casting, injection molding, forming, etc)
  • Self-motivated and team player
  • Ability to resolve complex issues in creative, efficient, and effective ways
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Operation of machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, and grinders to finish metal parts

Preferred Experiences

  • Metal 3D printing
  • Magics or Netfabb STL manipulation and support generation experience

Requirements

  • Travel: up to 25% (domestic and international)
  • Ability to lift 25 lbs
  • Bachelors of Science (Mechanical/Manufacturing Engineering)
