Vice President Product Marketing

The leader of Product Marketing reports directly to our CMO, Geeta Sachdev. This role requires deep expertise and passion for product marketing. You will lead the team responsible for telling the world about our platform and the problems it uniquely solves. You will develop a clear understanding of our customers and market and leverage this knowledge to prioritize and drive the right go-to-market efforts. You will craft the messaging and positioning to further accelerate our growth and will be instrumental in defining pricing & packaging, marketing programs that drive demand and enabling the sales and marketing teams.

An ability to grasp and translate technical capabilities into benefits customers care about and attention to detail is critical. You will lead the team that are experts in the market, the buyers, how they buy and their decision criteria and will transfer that knowledge to the sales and marketing channels. You will also lead strategic efforts including gaining a better understanding of the customer, driving new product launches and supporting joint technology alliances go-to-market efforts. You will work closely with product management to develop and communicate our product strategy while ensuring our sales teams are equipped with everything they need to succeed.

Responsibilities:

- Develop product and solution positioning that reinforces our core messages

- Communicate the value proposition of our platform to the sales team and develop sales tools that support sales execution

- Own sales enablement, competitive analysis, thought leadership content, and product launches

- Ensure content (e.g. case studies, sales enablement materials, product videos, web copies, competitive differentiation, white papers) communicates the unique capabilities of our platform in customer language

- Define and driving pricing and packaging efforts, including promotions and measuring results

- Market intelligence – be the expert on our buyers, how they buy, and their buying criteria. Conduct customer and market surveys and interviews to build expertise in the market, customers and competitive landscape

- Speak and present both externally and internally to promote our customer stories and our platform

- Communicate customer requirements and provide input to product management on product enhancements and future product direction

- Assist members of the sales and alliances team for calls with prospects, customers and partners when appropriate to provide deeper dive into the platform

- Work closely with campaign and sales enablement teams to assure on-boarding and continuing education programs to assure our sales teams act as trusted advisors to our target buyers

- Work closely with product management to plan and launch new releases

- Develop the strategy and support execution of segment, product specific or technology alliance sales and marketing programs

- Hire and train a world class product marketing team

Qualifications:

- 15+ years in enterprise software product marketing for a high tech company targeting IT organizations

- Bachelors in business, engineering or computer science (MBA a plus)

- Superb written and verbal communication skills - there is a heavy amount of writing and presenting/selling ideas.

- Hands on ability to create a range of marketing assets, including product demo videos and succinct slide pitch decks

- Proven track record of speaking in front of large internal, external and global audiences

- Exceptional analytical skills, ie ability to assemble and interpret data, create executive summaries, and deliver actionable business insights

- Strong project management skills with the ability to optimally structure and prioritize work

- Demonstrated ability to successfully influence senior management and critical stakeholders and to communicate the group's vision and accomplishments

- Demonstrated experience as a "thought leader" - sought after for advice, counsel and judgment.

- Willing to travel up to 25% to meet customers, prospects and partners.

- Prefers cross-functional team management, influence without authority. You and your team are at the center of the organization constantly interacting with sales, marketing, product, customers and prospects.

- Experience building, leading and managing teams of A players

- Technical aptitude, must become Turbonomic ACE certified within 6 months of hiring

- Strong analytical capabilities and intellectual curiosity

- Proficiency in content management, CRM and digital marketing tools
