The DevOps teams works along with other members of the Information Systems group in accomplishing a variety of IT related tasks. This work can include development, maintenance, and administration of IT infrastructure. This also involves supporting all of the departments at Vestmark in using and enhancing business processes involving JIRA, Confluence, and Salesforce and other applications. In addition, this team helps to design and implement new software systems to support our growing organization. The team is made up of level headed, well organized, and smart individuals that enjoy working together, and enjoy the constant flow of new challenges.

The Role

We are looking to add a mid-level member to the DevOps team. As a Software/Systems Engineer you will contribute to the build-out of a number of new internal software solutions to help the team to improve our operational efficiencies. This multi-facetted role includes but is not limited to:
 


  • Involvement in the design of new software solutions.
  • Contributing to the design specifications for these solutions.
  • The software development and delivery of the solutions.
  • The development and implementation of test plans.
  • Training and delivery of our products to internal teams.

    • Required Experience and Skills


  • 2 -4 years of software development experience
  • Solid algorithmic and object-oriented design skills
  • Development experience with the Java technology stack – Groovy/Grails, JavaScript, jQuery, AngularJS
  • Experience with RestFull Web Service, Tomcat, ANT is a plus
  • Experience with Git (or a similar version control system)
  • Exceptional communication skills (written and oral)
  • BS or MS in Computer Science or equivalent

    Location

    Our company is conveniently located in Wakefield just north of Boston. We also offer a hybrid work option for those who are more comfortable at home.

    The Vestmark Fun Committee has hosted various virtual games, ping-pong/pool tournaments and baseball game outings that I’ve participated in and truly enjoyed.     It’s my job to educate users on the best ways to use our product. While anyone can push the buttons, I always ask “why?” and “what is the user trying to accomplish?” I'm not only demonstrating the product, but also the value it adds to the workflow of the customer. By interacting with users, we are not just teaching but also learning.

I joined the company as a mid-level software engineer but have since grown into the role of a technical lead, to an engineering manager, and now helping to drive our agile transformation.     How do you collaborate with other teams in the company?

    We have learned to meet over Zoom as well as utilizing channels and direct messages in Slack. Today, as a hybrid office, we have more tools at our disposal to collaborate cross functionally. A great example would be with Slack channels having organized conversation, including files, graphics, and links makes for information readily available.
