Software Engineer - Business Team
EdX is looking for a software engineer to join our Business team to help us change the face of education. You will design and build new technology for edX’s open source learning platform on behalf of edX partners and clients. Your work will be used in production by millions of learners from all over the world.
You’ll use modern tooling like Django, Backbone.js, and github to build software that is scalable, reliable, and easy to use. Your projects will be diverse and meaningful, such as building a learning destination for a top-10 university or enhancing our core platform to support a country-scale education initiative.
**This position does NOT require regular travel.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, deploy, and support scalable software products.
- Understand and leverage key aspects of building operationally viable solutions.
- Support the open source community.
- Work collaboratively with teammates and leadership on projects.
Qualifications & Skills:
REQUIRED:
- Real-world experience with Python or other dynamic development languages. We use Python, but we can ramp you up if you’re new to it. We're confident you'll love the stack after we train you up!)
- Exposure to multiple technologies, including but not limited to HTML, CSS, Javascript, Django, MySQL.
- Committed to an agile development practices, in Scrum or Kanban.
PREFERRED:
- BS in Computer Science or related field of study.
- Familiarity with standards compliant front-end development and accessibility best practices
- Contributor to or consumer of Open Source frameworks.
