Senior UI/UX Designer, New Media

Summary:
DraftKings is seeking a Senior UI/UX Designer to join its rapidly growing New Media division. Focusing primarily on the team’s product pipeline, this role will take on a hybrid set of responsibilities that encompass both user experience and design, beginning far upstream at the product conceptualization stage and working all the way through final product design and shipping.
This will primarily take the form of work on DK Live, the new standalone mobile app launched by DraftKings in the fall of 2016 which has become the ultimate live scoring and news experience for the fantasy player. He/she will spearhead the continued evolution of this app, working intimately with our product team to design every element of both existing feature iteration and new feature creation.
In addition to content development, the Senior UI/UX Designer will be asked to take on graphic design work on the New Media team’s sales and sponsorship initiatives. Leveraging DraftKings’ diverse portfolio of digital and experiential assets, he/she will be responsible for building end-to-end campaigns that make DraftKings a truly compelling partner for premium brands.
Responsibilities:
- Lead all UX initiatives tied to New Media team’s product pipeline, with heavy focus on content delivery via DK Live standalone app.
- Lead user research to understand effective solutions and better inform design decisions.
- Create wireframes and prototypes that illustrate a coherent and well thought-out design solutions.
- Rapidly transition conceptual work into fully polished visual designs, to be shipped to development.
- Represent the voice of the users within both the product conceptualization and design processes.
- Provide detailed specifications of design solutions to be consumed by development teams.
- Participate in the development process to make sure all user experience specifications and designs are implemented properly
- Work within the New Media team to shape the DK Live product and extend that design across iOS, Android and web.
- Collaborate with Product, Engineering, Marketing, and other internal teams to collectively build and improve the DK Live app.
- Iterate on delivery solutions for written, video news and statistical content more broadly across DraftKings core products.
- When needed, deliver best-in-class graphic design work to be leveraged by brand partnerships team in effort to monetize DK product and content.
Qualifications & Skills:
- 7+ years’ working experience as a UI/UX Designer, preferably with a focus designing for B2C sites and applications.
- A degree in Graphic Design, Interaction Design, Communications Design, or equivalent experience
- The ability to clearly articulate your design decisions.
- Demonstrate strong design thinking.
- Portfolio illustrating engaging and inspiring design work
- Strong visual design sense, with a clear command of interaction design, and usability.
- Expert control over Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop
- Experience with responsive design methods and development of design iterations
- Knowledge of HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript, especially in the area of flexibility and interaction is a plus
