Sr. Software Engineer, Sales Email

Here at HubSpot, we’ve recently launched a bunch of tools to help salespeople at small and medium-sized businesses be more productive by sending more targeted, personalized, and effective emails. We have 800,000 active users using these tools today sending over 40,000 emails a day and that number is increasing quickly to where we anticipate sending hundreds of thousands of emails a day.

As our email volume grows, we want to be sure the quality of these emails stays high, both for the sake of our customers and the people on the other side of those sales emails. The Sales Email team is dedicated to monitoring the flow of the emails, detecting malicious use, proactively helping our users send better email, and mitigating the impact of bad actors on the system.

What we’re looking for

• Experience building distributed systems and thinking at scale
• Pragmatic decision making and problem solving -- there are a lot of angles to this problem and a lot of ways to attack them.
• Someone who can make complicated technical decisions and analyze tradeoffs with empathy for the customers who will be using it
• Experience with machine learning is a plus, but not required. We’re not sure if ML is the right fit for this, but definitely want to consider it.

Prior experience with email at scale isn’t required.

At HubSpot, apps are owned and developed by small, autonomous, cross-functional teams. You and your team set the goals, set the timelines, build the software, go to user tests, and carry the pager.
