About the role

The media ingestion and delivery team at Brightcove builds our media transcoding, packaging and delivery products for broadcasters, publishers, governments, and major brands. We do this on a massive scale. During 2016, customers published over 150 years of video content using the Brightcove technology and consumers watched over 27 billion streams.

As the senior product manager for media ingestion and delivery, you will own the roadmap and vision for Brightcove media delivery products. You will work with leading media and enterprise customers to support their publishing workflows and ensure video delivered via the Brightcove platform can reach both mainstream platforms and emerging media consumption devices with the right level of performance, quality, and security.

Responsibilities

• Define the strategy and roadmap for video processing within Video Cloud and Zencoder, including video ingestion, transcoding and DRM packaging
• Conduct quantitative and qualitative research to identify requirements, analyze market opportunities and set product strategy
• Collaborate with our Finance department to model and analyze service costs and develop strategies for maximizing customer value while maintaining appropriate margins
• Lead cross-functional teams through the product lifecycle including design, engineering, beta testing, operations, sales and marketing
• Prepare and deliver presentations, written documents, demonstrations and product concepts. Typical audiences include executive management, customers, partners and press
• Research and evaluate competitive products & solutions to help sales position Brightcove’s strengths and to inform future product roadmap priorities
• Work closely with our partner organization to facilitate integrations with strategic partners

About You

• You have a Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent, plus at least four (4) years’ experience in software and/or product management
• You have in depth experience in online video, including knowledge of codecs, streaming formats, DRM protection schemes, and media workflows
• You are comfortable talking about services, APIs and SDKs and don’t mind cracking open an editor to write some test or demo code
• You are numerate and data driven. You use data to drive product and you’re comfortable quantifying business impact and cost
• You quickly earn the respect of engineers because you can clearly articulate product priorities and requirements and have customer data to back them up
• You relish customer visits because it’s another opportunity to understand their business and technical needs
• Your hands-on experience with online video has taught you that you always have more to learn about this rapidly changing landscape
• You can communicate clearly and inspire confidence among internal audiences, including executives, sales, and support
• You have the tenacity to defend your opinions against strident objections but the confidence to change course when a better solution presents itself
