EdX, a non-profit educational software company, with a large open source component is looking for someone to help lead development of our open source iOS applications. The edX Mobile team is responsible for building out mobile capabilities through our core edX app currently available both on iOS and Android platforms.We have some audacious goals to reach a billion learners and the mobile team is at the forefront of this effort. You should be passionate about mobile apps and their possibilities in providing education across the entire world. You will be involved in every step of the development process, from brainstorming product ideas, to defining best practices across our code base, to pushing apps out the door.

Requirements:

• 5+ years of overall software development experience.
• 2+ years of overall iOS app development experience.
• Strong Swift and Objective-C skills with extensive knowledge of the iOS frameworks.
• Experience using scalable RESTful APIs.
• Demonstrated success in defining and launching production mobile apps.
• You fundamentally and passionately believe in creating a phenomenal mobile experience.

Preferred:

• A strong eye for user experience.
• Experience contributing to an open source project.
• Prior experience with MOOCs and online education.
• Python/Django skills.
• Experience with automated UI testing.
• Experience developing scalable RESTful APIs.
• Experience with mobile web development.
• BS in Computer Science or related field of study.
• Familiarity with mobile accessibility best practices.
• Experience with iOS accessibility features.
