WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR:

At Fitbit, we generate tons of data every day, in a lot of different places. We’re looking for a Data Engineer to work within our Business Intelligence Infrastructure team, helping us centralize and manage the data that will let us build better products and services for our customers. You’ll be a core member of the team working to build a cutting edge data integration solution for transforming, loading, validating and profile disparate data streams into our data warehouse.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

• Be part of a great team, helping build a first-class analytics platform

• Design, build and launch extremely efficient & reliable data pipelines to move data in, out and within our data warehouse
• Build tools for data cleansing, curation, parsing, integration, schematic mapping, and editing
• Design elegant data models supporting analytics
• Design efficient databases that support huge queries
• Become an authority on the content and quality of our data sources
• Mentor teammates and set direction in data warehousing standards, leading by doing and doing by leading
• Develop intelligent alerting mechanisms for detecting data anomalies and ensuring data quality
• Work with client-and server-side engineers to ingest new data and properly surface for regular consumption

WHO YOU ARE:

• 5+ years as a professional data engineer
• BS or MS degree in Computer Science or a related technical field
• Experience building high performing data pipelines
• Strong Python experience
• Strong SQL skills
• Working experience with Informatica or equivalent ETL technologies
• Production experience with Spark as a data integration solution is a plus
• Real-time data pipeline construction (like Kafka) a plus
• Unmistakable passion for simple and elegant solutions
• Excellent communication skills
