Who we are:

TripAdvisor is the world’s largest travel website, visited by 390 million travelers each month, and our business – TripAdvisor Rentals – is a fascinating and ever-evolving part of the organization. Rentals are a significant revenue generator and key growth area not just for TripAdvisor, but for the entire travel industry. It’s a category that’s rapidly gaining popularity; around two-thirds of travelers plan to stay in a rental this year, up from 50% two years ago. Our job is to ensure that we fulfil this demand and, ultimately, help people all over the world take amazing vacations, whether they’re staying in a studio in Sydney, a treehouse in Costa Rica, or a cottage in the Cotswolds.

Why this job is excellent:

As Senior Copywriter for a pioneering digital organization, you’ll play an integral part in shaping its future success. This is a fantastic opportunity for a commercially-minded copywriter to further develop their skills, while creating business-critical messaging for a wide range of mediums including FAQ and help content, product copy (for desktop, mobile and app), SEO and acquisition marketing.

It’ll be your job to fly the flag for Copy by setting the quality standard, working across several teams and establishing our tone of voice in every communication.

What you’ll get:

You’ll be surrounded by a leading team of digital experts who will support your development within a fast-paced business environment. Working alongside seasoned content professionals, you’ll report to the Director of Communications, Attractions and Rentals.

Your work will drive engagement, traffic and ultimately more bookings. Solving communication challenges within a fast-paced environment is a key part of this role. You’ll be part of the Communications team, but will work directly with marketing, customer service and product teams on a daily basis.

Your writing will be action-oriented and you’ll be skilled at transforming complex messages into concise, direct communications. The ideal candidate thrives in an environment where good ideas come from all employees.

Responsibilities will include, but not be restricted to:

  • Writing and proofing copy for a wide range of mediums including (but not limited to): FAQ and help content, product copy, SEO copy, and acquisition marketing collateral.
  • Owning brand guidelines and ensuring our copywriters follow these closely.
  • Mentoring copywriters and people who create content within other departments.
  • Collaborating with teams across the business to create user experiences that make conversion simple, even when the feature is complex.
  • Focusing on user experience at all times, initiating ongoing projects to improve messaging at every point of the user journey.
  • Presenting copywriting updates to key stakeholders, keeping the wider company informed of results and new initiatives.
  • Delivering copy that serves all of our international audiences and is in line with our tone of voice clear, concise and jargon free.

What we seek:

  • An illustrious track record working with Copy and Content (4+ years experience), ideally within a high energy e-commerce environment.
  • Exceptional attention to detail with a clear, methodological approach to problem solving.
  • Proven ability to establish things from scratch, work elegantly across multiple teams with different priorities and have tight-knit relationships with everyone involved.
  • A natural educator and influencer who is able to subtly teach and coach, and can bring people up to speed with ease.
  • An advocate for our users and the last word in quality, who can maintain an overall standard as well as having an eagle-eye for detail.
  • Project management and mentoring experience.
  • A keen familiarity with online marketing trends.
  • Hands-on experience in creating high-performing copy -- such as subject line and CTA copy -- that converts.
  • Positive, people-oriented, curious and enthusiastic attitude.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
