Role and Responsibilities

At PatientsLikeMe, Product Managers lead small cross-functional, agile development teams made up of Software Engineers and User Experience designers. PM’s play a lead role in collecting requirements, defining goals and scope, and guiding teams through ideation, design, implementation and rollout. Successful Product Managers continuously improve our software to deliver a positive and engaging experience for our users while collecting scientific data to advance our mission. We are looking for a hands on, seasoned Product Manager to build our next generation of mobile apps (iOS and Android) and contribute to a growing team focused on member experience and long term engagement. This person will be asked to:

Design Great Solutions

  • Understand how to use data to evaluate opportunities, analyze product impact, and balance business needs, user needs, and technical feasibility in making sound recommendations.

  • Work closely with UX Designers and User Researchers to generate and test hypotheses, establish design direction, and create effective user experiences.

  • Recognize when software is only one aspect of a great solution and work with business stakeholders to apply marketing and operations levers in delivering business results.

  • Have a good feel for the latest design patterns and technical constraints for iOS and Android

Drive for Results

  • Rapidly break down objectives into plans with specific, actionable steps

  • Manage the software development process and otherwise deftly juggle tasks

  • Prioritize, manage inevitable scope creep, and understand when it’s “good-enough”

  • Keep a team motivated and on track, course correct when necessary, and deliver projects on schedule

  • Launch PatientLikeMe’s first Android app later this year and regularly update the just launched iOS app

Engage Others

  • Work across PLM departments to understand the opportunities for the product to support company-wide initiatives.

  • Empathize and see the perspective of a wide range of others.

  • Develop an understanding of our user communities and their varied needs.

  • Facilitate trade-off discussions between different stakeholders: marketing, research, engineering, design, etc.

  • Communicate clearly and appropriately in writing, in visuals, and face-to-face.

Continuously Improve

  • Keeping mobile in mind, stay abreast of current technologies, design thinking, and product development techniques -- and share your learnings with others

  • Build trusting and respectful relationships with colleagues

  • Facilitate resolution of conflict

  • Seek feedback to grow and develop

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree required or equivalent experience. Concentrations in Engineering, Computer Science and other analytical or technical fields desired

  • 5-8 years product manager experience

  • 1-2 years experience in mobile app development

  • 1-2 years experience in mobile app development with at least one or more apps in the store today that you’ve worked on

  • Preferred 2-3 years experience in B2C products

  • Know your way around iTunes Connect and the Google Play Store

  • Experience using beta tests for iOS and Android to get meaningful user feedback and catch bugs early on
