 PRODUCT MANAGER JOB DESCRIPTION

The primary purpose of this position is to ensure that web and mobile applications meet the overall goals of Retail Business Services (RBS), while delivering value to the customer.  This person will lead cross-functional teams in the definition of business requirements through implementation and support for web and mobile applications managed by RBS.  Some projects will be more internally focused (RBS) and some projects will be more externally focused (AUSA and 3rd parties).

RESPONSIBILITIES

·         Collaborate with internal and external customers in regards to features and product deliverables, including setting web and mobile priorities, level of effort and budgets. Work with business owners to develop business cases and financial justifications for web and mobile solutions. 

·         Collect and prioritize inputs from all internal and/or client stakeholders, customers and partners to define business processes, business requirements, scrum user stories and user story acceptance criteria.  

·         Work with business stakeholders and scrum teams to define product roadmaps.  Define product phasing and scope. 

·Collaborate with UX/UI team and the business teams in the definition of the user experience.  Work with other support teams to define business processes required to support web/mobile experiences.

·         Perform the role of Product Owner in the Agile Scrum process including the management of the backlog and scrum story prioritization.  Perform the role of Scrum Master, as needed.

·         Develop high level sprint plans and communicate progress to stakeholders.  Conduct user acceptance tests with business stakeholders.

·         Conduct 3rd party web software vendor evaluations and recommendations.  Manage the selection process, including legal review of contracts and statements of work.  Manage vendor relationships ongoing, coordinating periodic reviews with the business.   

·         Serve as the primary Client Service liaison to AHOLD.  This requires communication with upper management levels in the organization.

·         Manage a team of Web Center Business Analysts.

·         Coordinate key launch activities with RBS, AHOLD and 3rd parties, as needed.

·         Work with customer research teams to interview customers during the discovery and design processes.  Review web benchmarks and analytics.  Funnel learnings into future business requirements.

·         Serve as customer advocate to ensure the best possible web and mobile experience. 

·         Conduct periodic competitive reviews and publish findings and opportunities.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:      

To perform at a proficient level and be fully qualified, a person would be expected to have:

·         Education BS/BA or equivalent

·         7+ years software product development experience for a consumer facing product

·         Specialized Knowledge Needed For Performance of Job:  Product management, e-commerce practices, software development, process design, user testing, business requirements definition, Agile Scrum product ownership 

SPECIAL SKILLS: 

·         Excellent leadership skills while still having attention to detail.

·         Excellent analytical, critical thinking and problem solving skills.

·         Ability to build and sustain strong relationships with teammates, internal/external customers and senior management

·         Working knowledge of software design and agile software development practices

·         Ability to evaluate and prioritize new feature/change requests in relation to existing functionality and technical architecture

·         A strong motivation to produce excellent work with limited supervision

·         Ability to influence and interact with all organizational levels and stakeholders

·         Excellent time management and follow through

·         Makes timely decisions in relatively complex cases and in situations with some uncertainty or pressure

·         Strong written and verbal communication skills; excellent presentation skills

·         Experience in client services, fanatical about providing excellent customer service

·         Self-motivated, result oriented, and able to successfully manage multiple priorities effectively and efficiently.

·         Ability to motivate and move a cross functional team towards the successful meeting of aggressive goals

·         Excel, Word, Visio, Powerpoint.  Jira a plus.  Good understanding of databases and data models.
