Position Summary

We are looking for a Lead Data Scientist to join our growing Analytics team! The ideal candidate should be passionate about working on cutting edge research and analytical services for global pharma/biotech firms. The Lead Data Scientist will be responsible for developing and delivering analytics and quantitative solutions in clinical and drug-development activities. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Work with large, complex data sets. Solve difficult, non-routine analysis problems, applying advanced analytical methods as needed. Conduct end-to-end analysis that includes data gathering and requirements specification, processing, analysis, ongoing deliverables, and presentations.
  • Build and prototype analysis pipelines iteratively to provide insights at scale. Develop comprehensive understanding of SHYFT data structures and metrics, advocating for changes where needed for both products development and sales activity.
  • Lead in the design and development of new product innovation in big data analytics, predictive analytics and visualization for the life science and healthcare industries, Python and R scripting and SQL Server/PostgreSQL querying.
  • Proactively pursue productizing data science approaches.
  • Learn and understand our clients’ business, be able to gather business requirements associated with big data and advanced analytics, and deliver results.
  • Identify project details, conduct ad hoc analyses, implement best practices and develop new, advanced analytics that improve the efficiency and quality of project and company deliverables.

Position Requirements

  • Proficient with analytical approaches, statistical techniques and relevant technologies.
  • Proficient in software and statistical scripting languages (e.g., Python, R, SQL). Familiarity with R and SQL necessary. One other software language proficiency required of C# or Python.
  • Strong internal and external communications skills (verbal and written).
  • Strong team player with experience in project-team environments.
  • Self-motivation, curiosity, initiative and innovation.
  • Experience with Scrum team organization preferred.

Education/Experience

  • PhD, Post Doc & relevant work experience in a quantitative field (e.g., as a statistician / computational biologist / bioinformatician / data scientist)
  • 5 years of relevant work experience in data analysis or related field.
  • Experience with statistical software (e.g., R, Python/Pandas) and database languages (e.g., SQL)
