Toast is strategically expanding our engineering team and opening an office in India. Toast’s ambition to become the leading restaurant technology platform requires that we build a global engineering organization to support multiple product lines at multiple stages of development from early stage startups within a startup to growing and scaling these products. We are looking for people to help us start this office, and as the first people on the team, you will have a tremendous opportunity to grow in your career, whether you want to be an Architect or CTO, Manager, Director or VP Engineering, or entrepreneur. The initial founders of the India office will need to ensure we build a top-tier team of engineers, and ability to evaluate technical ability is critical. The ideal candidate will be someone who is a top-tier programmer and can leverage your talent to keep the bar high, and also has an ability to be a technical leader in a 10-20 person team, with the potential to scale a team much bigger.

Toast has a devops culture of building, deploying and maintaining services within a single team. As the founding engineer in India, we would like you to help instill this culture as we scale. You will be at the center of this expansion and participate in everything; from setting a tone of excitement with the initial team to building complex distributed systems across geographically dispersed development teams.

Technologies that Toast uses:

Toast's architecture uses the Java Play framework as the main presentation tier; with Angular js as the javascript framework. Data flows from the point of sale (POS) Android application and through public api’s into multiple Postgres databases using RabbitMQ. Micro services built using in Java and leveraging dropwizard handle the bulk of the business logic and interaction with the Postgres databases. With a small dose of nginx and Redis thrown in to glue everything together. We are hosted in aws, use git and jenkins and have a healthy devops infrastructure to keep releases small and everything running smoothly.

• Recruit a top tier engineering team to work with you

• Help define how Toast works with multiple engineering centers
