We seek a Healthcare Informatics Specialist to work with existing and new GNS data assets and client healthcare data to support enterprise-wide analytics and machine-learning operations including R&D, product development and precision medicine consulting projects. The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of the healthcare industry, as well as an ability to develop standardized, automated data integration workflows. The ideal candidate would be familiar with commonly used medical terminologies (ICD, DRG, HCPCS, CPT), claims processing, and/or electronic medical record (EMR) data. 

The Specialist creates and maintains the Big Data assets of the company by employing GNS’ MeasureBase technology, which integrates disparate health care data sources into a high performance, cloud based data warehouse that enables high-level analytics. The Specialist will integrate new data assets into the warehouse and work with R&D, product development, and consulting teams to effectively utilize it. The Specialist will have a creative approach to problem solving and the ability to quickly review and gain comfort with new types of data and information. This position is based in Cambridge, MA.

Responsibilities


  • Improve data breadth, depth, quality and access to enterprise data assets.
  • Maintain and continuously improve an automated ETL pipeline.
  • Integrate new data sources into the MeasureBase data warehouse.
  • Analyze new data sources in order to specify and implement ETL transformations.
  • Elicit feedback from stakeholders in order to define new features of MeasureBase technology.
  • Train users on access to and use of data sets.
  • Conduct ad-hoc analyses to educate internal stakeholders on current assets and capabilities.
  • Identify and integrate potential new data assets that extend capabilities or simplify processes.
  • Qualifications


  • BS/BA required, concentration in informatics, information systems, or computer science preferred. Advanced degree preferred.
  • A minimum of 3 years of healthcare data/analytics experience.
  • At least 2 years of experience exploring and analyzing data using SQL.
  • At least 1 year of experience using a scripting language (Python, Bash, Perl, etc.) to automate processes.
  • A strong understanding of ETL and data management best practices.
  • Strong critical thinking and analytical skills with effective troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to make critical decision independently; excellent time management and project management skills; and effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and attend to details, multi-task and thrive in a fast paced environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally with multiple groups/departments.
  • Experience with column store, no-SQL technologies, and other emerging big data technologies a plus, but not required.
