We are looking for an exceptional and innovative Research Scientist with experience in Health Economics and Outcomes Research (HEOR), who can communicate effectively and work collaboratively with clients. An ideal candidate is someone who thrives on working in a fast-paced and exciting team environment in one of the most cutting-edge industries where big data analytics meets healthcare. You will work with clients to carry out analysis projects using our proprietary, supercomputer-powered Bayesian network modeling and simulation platform, and will synthesize these results into meaningful reports for clients and product development.

This position will officially report to the Director of HEOR Analytics, who is based in North Carolina. 

Roles and Responsibilities:


  • Lead awarded studies of high complexity in a timeline driven manner and achieve high client satisfaction.
  • Work closely with the internal research teams and clients to evaluate strategy, define research questions, write statistical analysis plans/study protocols, participate in the full research process, edit the full body of reports, and author publications and submissions to scientific meetings.
  • Directly, or by supporting other GNS Healthcare scientists, offer leadership in the advancement of observational studies methodologies and innovations.
  • Provide senior oversight to other awarded studies and responsible for managing issue escalations.
  • Perform data manipulations and develop algorithms on multi-data sets that create the analytic files necessary to support analyses.
  • Utilizing industry standard as well as cutting-edge health economic analytical and statistical techniques, conduct disease specific analyses that provide insight into therapeutic areas and clinical care provided.
  • Using primarily R, produce output-reports, tables and figures-driven by project specific needs.
  • Oversee and manage quality, on-time delivery of proposals.
  • Job Qualifications and Requirements:


  • Preferred PhD or required Master’s degree with 5-6 years experience in biostatistics, or epidemiology.
  • Working knowledge of Bayesian statistics and Bayesian graphical theory
  • Expert level programming in R required.
  • Familiarity with the UNIX and cluster computing environment preferred
  • Deep understanding of retrospective and prospective observational study designs and related methodology.
  • Solid grounding in understanding the incidence, prevalence, risk factors, natural history course, comorbidities, treatment patterns, and clinical outcome measures of disease.
  • Must have extensive experience using large longitudinal datasets such as administrative claims, electronic medical records, or disease registries in the areas of pharmacoeconomics, epidemiology, or health economics. Experience with omics data a plus, but not required.
  • Extensive senior level experience in research management and leadership.
  • Communication skills: Strong personal communication and staff management skills and experience preferred, and a clear ability to communicate technical material to non-technical audiences simply and clearly plan. 
  • Travel to client site in northern New Jersey.
