Who We Are

BookBub is one of the fastest growing consumer tech startups in Boston. Millions of readers use BookBub every day to find great books, and our service helps thousands of leading publishers and authors drive sales and find new fans. Connecting readers with great deals on ebooks is just the beginning for BookBub. We're growing our team to launch new consumer-facing book discovery features, tools for authors and publishers, and other web and mobile products that address the digital transition of the publishing industry.

The Role

BookBub seeks an experienced leader to drive the team responsible for launching and managing the company’s various products -- our featured deals email, ad auction platform, author follow and bookmarking tools for readers, mobile app, and other in-development reader discovery and publisher marketing tools. Reporting to the head of the company, the person who fills this newly-created role will have the following responsibilities:

  • Overseeing and growing a team that currently consists of three product managers, and helping them successfully validate, launch, grow, and drive product initiatives
  • Guiding and mentoring the product team around best practices for business validation, user testing, project management, spec drafting, UX design, quality assurance, stakeholder buy-in, and general management.
  • Determining overall product strategy and roadmap by soliciting and synthesizing feedback from all stakeholders, company leadership, and product managers
  • Setting up processes and feedback loops to ensure smart decision making, efficient driving of product development, and strong communication
  • Presenting and evangelizing product updates, milestones, and strategy evolution to keep employees, the board, and partners informed and in sync
  • Hiring and training new product team members, and working with the heads of tech and design to staff initiatives appropriately
  • Leading some product initiatives directly while the product team is still small
  • Serving as a core leader on the executive team, helping set business policies and company culture

Ideal Background of Candidates:

  • Years of product management experience and product team leadership at a tech/digital media product company, ideally some experience in consumer/advertising-supported businesses
  • Leadership and management experience, ideally at a rapidly growing startup that has grown to a 100+ person company
  • An MBA, BA in Computer Science, and/or equivalent experience
  • Interest in reading and/or the publishing industry is a plus

Benefits

BookBub offers competitive benefit options including medical, dental, vision, 401k, and take-what-you-need PTO.
