The Director, Brand Marketing Partnerships is a key strategic management role on the global marketing team, responsible for growing and maintaining long-term strategic partnerships with new and existing lifestyle brands, including emerging technologies, mobile apps, social platforms, and digital media. This Director is a dedicated digital strategist with a true passion for uncovering emerging technologies and how to leverage them for strategic partnerships. This senior role will be responsible for leading a team with employees in NYC, Needham, and London.
Specific responsibilities include:
- In partnership with the Senior Director, Global Partnerships and VP, Brand Experience, establish a clear vision, roadmap and go to market strategy for lifestyle and technology partnerships and deliver against objectives and key results
- Possess a deep understanding of the technology sector especially in areas of innovation and strategic positioning with an emphasis on travel
- Be on the forefront of partnership marketing, advocating best practices and driving innovation by capitalizing on TripAdvisor’s suite of partner offerings
- Identify, develop and negotiate brand partnerships, co-marketing and promotional relationships with major brand partners who are a fit with the TripAdvisor platform
- Build and maintain a pipeline of new business prospects and develop and maintain strong relationships with key decision makers
- Turn insights & trends into compelling narratives reflecting how TripAdvisor platforms can turn a partner brand into a fully realized strategic partnership and with scale
- Ensure the business development teams fully manage the end-to-end process from business development, negotiations, execution and transitioning to account management
- Identify areas of growth for existing partners to capitalize and maximize
- Understand full scope of partner prospect business including industry trends and priorities and determine how a TripAdvisor partnership is a fit strategically
- Work closely with TripAdvisor Ad Sales and Ad Solutions to create enterprise-wide strategic partnerships
- Collaborate cross-functionally with key business leaders to drive solutions and opportunities for partnerships function
Hiring requirements:
- 10+ years of experience with brand partnership marketing and business development work with leading technology companies, digital media, or agencies
- Expert understanding of current technology landscape, key trends, insights and opportunities, with a deep and authentic rolodex of decision maker contacts in the lifestyle and technology sector
- Proven track record of developing, selling and executing a wide range of brand partnerships, promotional activations and cross platform relationship building
- Exceptional leadership that motivates and inspires a best-in-class team through clear direction that fully empowers the team to fulfill and execute their roles
- Results-driven individual with experience in developing high level relationship building and negotiation
- Strong attention to detail, highly entrepreneurial, creative, persistent and highly collaborative
- High energy and personality that thrives in a “Speed Wins” culture
- Strong experience in navigation and ability to work well across an organizational matrix and interfacing with brand marketing, product and engineering functions
- Excellent interpersonal communications skills with ability to formulate and articulate value points, contractual and technical requirements with partners and internal TripAdvisor teams
- Ability to uncover and foster high level influencers across many different types of categories and brands to develop mutually beneficially partnerships
- Considerable experience in global partnership deal negotiation and execution
- Understanding of product partnerships including APIs is a plus
- Strong presentation, written and verbal communications skills
- Travel is required
Education:
- BA/BS or equivalent experience required; MBA preferred
