Data Engineer

Responsibilities:
- Work with data scientists to architect and build systems that use Machine Learning techniques to provide services via Rest APIs
- Develop reliable data pipelines that convert data into features that can be used to train machine learning models
- Analyze and understand data sources, participate in design discussions and provide guidance about database technology best practices
- Write tested, high quality code that can be quickly moved into production
Qualifications and skills:
- B.S. or M.Sc. in Computer Science or Software Engineering, or equivalent experience
- Experience building highly-performant data heavy applications
- Expert knowledge of SQL and NoSQL tools
- Working knowledge of Redshift, DynamoDB, Kinesis, Apache Spark or other big data technologies
- 3+ years experience with AWS services
- Strong knowledge of Linux / UNIX systems
- Proficiency in high level language such as Java, Scala, C++, Go or Python
- Knowledge of how to assess the performance of data solutions, how to diagnose performance problems, and tools used to monitor and tune performance
- Understanding of software quality assurance principles
Nice to have:
- Experience with data mining, machine learning, statistical modeling tools or underlying algorithms
