TripAdvisor is looking for a talented and inspirational creative leader that brings together product centric design with a strong brand sensibility. The role requires individual to have a solid track-record of interactive design experience working with large consumer websites and associated online marketing campaigns. Individual must have experience working with product / business partners to translate business and brand goals into creative executions that have demonstrated impact.

The Creative Director role will oversee 2 creative groups – core product designers and the brand creative team. Working closely with Product Managers, the Creative Director will be responsible for designing website experience [features, functionality, core pages] to deliver on business goals while enhancing the user experience. In addition, working with Brand Marketing leadership, the CD will be creating high-performance marketing campaigns to drive member acquisition, engagement, conversion, and repeat.

 

Responsibilities include:

  • Develop and execute strong design vision for TripAdvisor brand across website [desktop & mobile] and marketing campaigns
  • Partner with Product team to translate business goals into strong design elements that can deliver on key business metrics, elevate site design, and enable a strong user experience
  • Partner with Brand Marketing to develop strategically sound and holistic brand and marketing creative executed with excellence and leveraged across all touch points (including mobile and offline advertising); creative programs must meet business objectives and advance our brand strategy
  • Ensure designs and interfaces communicate consistent, effective experiences and messages across a wide range of deliverables; ensure design across all mediums are in alignment with core site and branding strategy
  • Identify, sharpen, and evolve brand vision and value through creative communications
  • Lead style guide development with product, brand, and engineering partners to enhance design and enable more consistent user experience across the web-site
  • Create and evolve global brand guidelines; manage and oversee development and sharing of global identity assets and templates; development and management of all new and existing brand marks
  • Unify global vision across all TripAdvisor points of sale, lead creative development and adaptations
  • Provide quality control over concepts and projects
  • Lead team of 15+ core and brand design and copy staff – hire, supervise, mentor, and inspire the creative team
  • Raise creative excellence in all POS and help infuse brand identity into corporate culture, helping us "live the brand"

Desired skills and experience:

  • Minimum of 10-12 years of experience leading and managing teams
  • UX based, product and brand oriented design portfolio
  • Ability to work with Product Marketing teams and translate product and business goals into impactful design; An ability to support creative goals and business objective
  • Knowledge across multiple devices (e.g., tablet, mobile, etc.) – mobile design experience strongly preferred
  • Powerful portfolio of a creative that demonstrates originality, innovation, problem-solving, and personal expression
  • Experience creating and managing global brand identity systems
  • Strong communication, organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Has conviction to champion their perspective but are also able to successfully collaborate with other point of views
  • An innate ability to simultaneously support creative goals and business objectives
  • A talent for managing multiple projects simultaneously, from concept to completion; exhibit flexibility and ability to create multiple creative concepts and speed
  • Flexible and open to change and new information; adapts behavior and work methods accordingly
  • Strong interpersonal skills; a team player, positive highly collaborative, and ability to negotiate, and innovative thinker
  • Treats colleagues and partners with respect: considers and responds appropriately to the needs, feelings, and capabilities of different people
  • Can be relied upon to ensure that projects within areas of specific responsibility are completed in an appropriate and timely manner and acknowledges mistakes, learns from those events
  • Clear communication through expression of facts and ideas in a clear, convincing and organized manner
  • International/multi-language interactive experience a plus
  • Bachelors or Masters degree in Graphic Design or related field in Information Design, Interaction Design, Human Factors; Basic understanding of CSS, HTML-5
  • Strong negotiating and communication, organizational and problem-solving skills
