Position Summary:

The Compliance Director assists the global organization and individual departments with executing the day-to-day control and compliance activities, escalates issues regarding noncompliance and compliance risk, performs quality control testing and monitoring, develops and maintains procedures to implement regulatory compliance requirements as appropriate.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Review and update the Company’s Code of Conduct policy to ensure continuing currency and relevance to the Company and its employees
  • Review and update other Company policies
  • Monitor, and as necessary, coordinate compliance activities of other departments to remain abreast of the status of all compliance activities and to identify potential areas of compliance vulnerability and risk
  • Establish strong working relationships with all functional group leads, and serve as a strategic business partner to senior management to drive a culture of compliance across the Company
  • Play a key role in administering the Company’s ethics and compliance hotline and other reporting procedures
  • Develop a comprehensive compliance investigations framework to assure that allegations of compliance violations are resolved in an appropriate and consistent manner and that findings are adequately documented
  • Develop/implement corrective action plans for resolution of problematic issues, and provide general guidance on how to avoid or deal with similar situations in the future.
  • Supervise and/or oversee periodic testing to determine effectiveness of the Company’s compliance with regulatory requirements as well as internal policies and procedures.
  • Respond to government investigations and queries and to alleged violations of law, regulation, policies or procedures by evaluating and recommending the initiation of investigative procedures.
  • Collaborate with other departments (e.g., Finance, IT Security, HR, Legal) as appropriate to assist with compliance initiatives and investigations and form recommendation/resolution.
  • Develop and oversee business quality control testing plan and program for the Company.
  • Partner with other business support groups to investigate and remediate identified areas of risk including corrective actions as necessary.
  • Work with the HR Department and others as appropriate to develop an effective compliance training program, including appropriate introductory training for new employees as well as ongoing training for all employees and managers.
  • Provide reports on a regular basis to keep the Board of Directors and senior management informed of the operation and progress of compliance efforts.

Education & Professional Certifications:

  • B.A., B.S.; Masters

Candidate Profile:

  • Previous experience working in the telecommunication industry a must have
  • 10 years of professional experience is required, working in a field directly relevant to ethics and compliance with federal, state and local laws, regulations, and contractual obligations
  • 3+ years managerial/supervisory experience
  • Experience in process and control mapping methodologies
  • Experience in managing ethics hotline calls and emails
  • Experience in developing policies, procedures and training programs
  • Demonstrated ability to develop a compliance program plan and lead a team of people from diverse professional backgrounds across organizational boundaries to achieve goals and objectives with excellence in both process and results
  • Outstanding written, oral, and presentation skills as well as the ability to effectively deal with all levels of management
  • Demonstrated maturity in judgement and ability to conduct fair and impartial investigation into allegations of impropriety
  • Reputation for conduct at the highest standards of ethics and integrity.
