While Boston and Cambridge may hold the lion’s share of tech jobs, there are plenty of amazing opportunities for techies in the suburbs. From Somerville to Waltham, open roles await at growing companies like Formlabs and Paint Nite. We’ve rounded up seven positions that could get your foot in the tech door — without having to face a downtown commute.

The job: 3D printing customer success manager

What you’d do: Connect with 3D printer users to teach them the technology, identify problems and create solutions via email and phone.

Where you’d work: Somerville

What they’re looking for: You should have more than one year of experience talking to customers on the phone and are ideally well-versed in CAD, modeling, 3D printing and/or digital fabrication tools.

The job: Director, implementation services

What you’d do: You’d serve as a trusted adviser to customers in your portfolio and be responsible for leading a team of engagement managers and consultants focused on implementing SHYFT products.

What they’re looking for: You should have over eight years’ experience delivering technology solutions with a consultative mindset and over five years of management experience. Knowledge of the life sciences/healthcare industry is a plus.

What they’re looking for: Someone with two to three years of software development experience with Javascript MVC libraries such as React or Angular. Bonus points if you have experience with React, Redux, GraphQL or Apollo.
