5 must attend Boston tech conferences in 2017

In Boston, there are so many great events it's time to start planning your 2017 calendar. We've rounded up the tech conferences you won’t want to miss if you’re interested in the city’s innovation space.

 

Women Engineers Code (WECode) Conference 2017, February 4

Hosted by Harvard Women in Computer Science, this third annual conference will be held at Harvard University in Cambridge and will tackle cultivating the next generation of tech leaders. This event was designed to help women foster a network and community with other engineers, and to promote more female representation in tech. The event includes two breakfasts and lunches, and all attendees are promised ample opportunities to network and get tons of free swag.

19th Annual MIT Venture Capital & Innovation Conference, February 10

Held at the Samberg Conference Center in Cambridge, this event will showcase the latest cutting edge research and technology in development at MIT, alongside TED-style talks, debates and fireside chats between some of the city’s most interesting people. The organizers promise: There will be no boring 45 minute panels. Confirmed speakers include Sandy Pentland of MIT Media Lab, Jerry Colonna of Reboot.io and Kat Manalac from Y Combinator.

2017 MIT Tech Conference, February 18

Hosted by the MIT Sloan Technology Club, this conference will be held at the MIT Media Lab in Cambridge and will be open to the public. This annual conference features expert panels, keynote speakers from some of the biggest names in tech and a showcase of the world's most innovative technologies.  This year’s conference will focus on some of the world’s newest technologies like the Internet of Things, virtual reality, augmented reality, artificial intelligence, robotics and more. The focus of the event will be to better understand what obstacles are preventing brilliant minds from unlocking the full potential of converging technologies.

Boston Startup Tour, April 14

Hosted by Startup Stir, a global community of entrepreneurs built by entrepreneurs, the Startup Tour aims to help people in the innovation community talk with fellow entrepreneurs. The event starts with a brief overview of Boston’s startup scene at Workbar, followed by a couple founder chats, a tour of WeWork and happy hour at District Hall in South Boston.

StartupWeek, September 18-22

This five-day celebration of the startup community is designed to build momentum and opportunity around entrepreneurship. Led by local entrepreneurs and hosted by innovative spaces all around Boston, this is a week not to miss for anyone interested in the city’s blossoming tech ecosystem.
